croatia places to visit

Traveling in France, Italy and Croatia soon. Any advice or suggestions on food and places to stay and visit?
It also seeks suggestions of things to carry, while backpack here. Thanks for any help!
If you go to northern Italy, do not miss the Lake Garda. Place of beauty equal. I also tell them do not bypass Venice. I have been a few places and nothing, but nothing compares to Venice. Happy journey
